Appetite Reset: Life After GLP-1

A three-month specialist dietitian programme designed to help you taper or come off your medication without regaining the weight you’ve worked so hard to lose.

For many of the patients who come into my clinic room, regain is their biggest fear, and it’s a reasonable one. Many have lost weight and regained it more times than they can count, often after following plans that were far too restrictive.

Each round is physically and psychologically exhausting, each regain deepens a feeling of failure, and that feeling so often drives people straight back into the same cycle of restriction and rebound eating. Stopping a GLP-1 without support can easily become the next round of that cycle. Appetite Reset exists to help you break it.

The bigger picture

Your body was built for a different world

Obesity isn’t a long-standing feature of human biology. It has emerged rapidly over the past fifty years and is rising across the world, with adult obesity more than doubling globally since 1990. Our biology hasn’t changed in that time, but our environment has, dramatically. Human bodies evolved to hold on to energy when food was scarce, and they now live surrounded by cheap, highly palatable food, sedentary work, poor sleep and constant stress.

That mismatch is why weight is so hard to manage, and why it has never been a simple matter of willpower.

After the medication

Why the weight comes back

GLP-1 medications work partly by dampening your appetite signals. When that effect is removed, particularly if treatment stops suddenly, appetite doesn’t simply return to where it was. It often rebounds with force, into the same environment that made weight loss difficult in the first place.

Regain doesn’t mean the treatment failed. It means the biology behind the weight gain is still there, and it needs a plan.

More than weight

Protecting the health gains you’ve made

Obesity is closely linked with insulin resistance, chronic low-grade inflammation and metabolic dysfunction, and together they multiply the risk to your health. The improvements many people see on a GLP-1, in blood sugar, blood pressure and energy, can revert when treatment stops. Appetite Reset is designed to protect all of it.

The approach

Regulation, not restriction

This is the stage where nutrition matters most. Skipping meals or under-eating increases the risk of rebound hunger and feeling out of control around food. Physical activity is protective too, and adequate protein alongside resistance training helps preserve the muscle that supports your metabolism.

Who it’s for

Wherever you are right now

Appetite Reset works for all three stages. Your first consultation establishes where you are, and your plan is built from there.

Stage one

Planning to taper

Build your foundations while your appetite is still quiet, so the taper itself is much steadier.

Stage two

Part-way through reducing your dose

Manage returning hunger and food noise as they appear, with your plan adjusted at each step.

Stage three

Already stopped

Noticed hunger or weight starting to return. Stabilise your appetite and build a plan you can hold.

What’s included

Specialist support at every stage

1 × 60min initial consultation
6 × 30min fortnightly follow-ups
12 hrsWhatsApp reply time

A detailed clinical assessment

Your 60-minute initial consultation covers your GLP-1 history, dose and side effects, your weight history, your medical conditions and medications, and your most recent blood results, so we can identify your specific risk factors for regain from the start.

A plan built around your appetite biology

As your dose comes down, your hunger and fullness signals shift, and your eating needs to change with them. Your plan is adjusted at each stage using meal timing, protein distribution, fibre and food volume, with a balanced way of eating built around your preferences, culture and routine.

Learning to regulate your appetite

You’ll learn to recognise true hunger, fullness and cravings, and respond to them with confidence as the medication is withdrawn.

Support for your metabolic health

If you’re living with insulin resistance, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes or PCOS, your plan is shaped around blood glucose control as well as weight, and we’ll track the health markers that matter for you.

Protecting your muscle

Weight loss on GLP-1 medication can include a loss of muscle. Your plan sets protein targets specific to your body and works alongside resistance training to help preserve it.

Correcting nutritional gaps

Months of eating less on medication can leave shortfalls in protein, fibre and key vitamins and minerals. I’ll advise on whether any supplements are clinically indicated for you, and help you avoid products that promise to replace your medication without evidence.

Planning for real life

We’ll work on your food environment at home and at work, social events, travel, stress and the support around you, because these are where regain usually starts.

Six fortnightly follow-ups

Your 30-minute appointments, face to face in Northwest London or online, review your weight, symptoms and appetite every two weeks, so early signs of regain are caught and acted on quickly.

WhatsApp support throughout

Replies within 12 hours, because difficult weeks rarely fall on appointment days.

An early-warning plan

You’ll know exactly what to do if the scales start to move, so a small change stays small.

Built to last beyond three months

The people who do best after stopping a GLP-1 are the ones who keep practising what made it work. Appetite Reset is built around that continuity, so you leave with the skills, structure and confidence to protect your progress long after the programme ends.

Specialist care from a registered dietitian

I’m Sara Hausmann, an HCPC-registered dietitian with 15 years of specialist experience in obesity and metabolic health. “Registered Dietitian” is a legally protected title in the UK, and at a stage where your medication, blood results and eating all need to be considered together, that level of expertise matters. I always work alongside your prescribing doctor, never around them.

Free 10-Minute Clarity Call

A short, no-pressure conversation with Sara to talk through where you are and whether working together feels like the right next step.

If you’ve spent years struggling with your weight, you’ve probably tried plenty of things already, but something still isn’t working. Before committing to anything, it helps to speak to the person you’d be working with.

I’m Sara Hausmann, a Registered Dietitian with 15 years of specialist experience. This is your chance to tell me what’s been happening, what you’ve tried and what feels hardest right now. I’ll listen without judgement, and without assuming you haven’t tried hard enough.

Good to know: This is an informal conversation to get to know each other, not a clinical appointment. I won’t be giving individual dietary advice or a treatment plan during the call. That work begins in your Initial Consultation, where we take a full hour to understand your health history and build a plan around you.

There’s no cost and no obligation to book anything afterwards. Whether you’re ready to start or still weighing things up, you’re very welcome to get in touch.

Common questions

I’m still on my medication. Is it too early to join?

No, and it’s often the best time to start. Building your foundations while appetite is still quiet makes the taper much steadier.

I’ve already stopped and some weight has come back. Is it too late?

Not at all. We’ll focus on stabilising your appetite, understanding what’s driving the regain, and building a plan you can hold on your own.

Will you tell me how to reduce my dose?

Dosing decisions stay with your prescriber. My role is to support your nutrition, appetite and habits through each stage, working alongside your doctor.

I’m not sure if this is right for me.

That’s what the free 10-minute clarity call is for. It’s a relaxed conversation about where you are and whether the programme feels like a good fit, with no pressure to book.
